Allison Rebecca Stokke was born to Allan and Cindy Stokke on March 22, 1989, in Newport Beach, California. 

Allison initially wanted to be a professional gymnast like her brother David but later shifted her focus to pole vaulting while at Newport Harbor High School.

Athlete, scholar, and actress

Despite the average female gymnast standing at 4-foot-9, Allison stands tall at 5-foot-7, proving that size truly doesn’t matter.

As a high school freshman in 2004, she soared to new heights and broke the school record for 15/16-year-olds with a jaw-dropping jump of 3.86m (that’s 12’8″ for those of us who don’t speak metric). 

As a sophomore the following year, 2005, she smashed her record by reaching a towering 4.11m (that’s 13’5.75″, in case you were wondering). 

Her impressive skills and hard work earned her a bursary to study sociology at the prestigious University of California, Berkeley, in 2006. She even made her acting debut as “Pole-Vaulting Girl” in the first season of Nickelodeon’s iCarly in 2008, displaying her versatility. 

In 2013, Allison’s academic prowess shone through as she achieved a Master’s degree.

Becoming an overnight sensation

Allison Stokke caught the world’s attention back in 2007 after a pic of her pole-vaulting prowess was shared on a sports blog. “With Leather” couldn’t help but ogle and labeled the pic “Pole Vaulting is Sexy, Barely Legal,” which immediately went viral. 

The downside? Allison, who was just 17 then, had to deal with unwanted attention and objectification. Her dad, who is also a lawyer, even had to be on the lookout for creepy behavior online. Thankfully, Allison sought help from a media consultant to handle the craziness.

From Olympic dreams to brand endorsements

With a determined spirit and eyes set on the Olympic prize, Stokke reached her lifetime record of 4.36m(14’3.625″ for those who love precision). However, fate had other plans.

When she tried to qualify for the American Olympic team trials, Stokke fell short and missed the mark. Even in the United States Olympic trials, she couldn’t clear the required 4.25m. 

And so, Stokke hung up her pole vaulting shoes and turned to the world of brand endorsements and modeling. She campaigned for prestigious brands such as Nike, Inc., GoPro, Athleta, and Uniqlo.

The couple had their hearts set on a destination wedding in the Bahamas, but mother nature had other ideas. When Hurricane Dorian threatened this area, they quickly relocated to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. 

With just 48 of their nearest and dearest in attendance, they exchanged vows in a beautiful beach ceremony on October 5, 2019. Allison gushed about the special moment, saying she’d always dreamed of walking down the aisle and seeing Rickie’s smiling face.

On Monday, June 21, 2021, Rickie announced that he and Allison Stokke were expecting a baby girl. And just a few months later, on November 18, 2021, they welcomed their precious bundle of joy, Maya Fowler, into the world.
